Ocean House Oyster Bar & Grill: A Seafood Gem in Croton-On-Hudson

Best seafood in Westchester County and wonderful waitstaff. Always a perfect evening whenever we go!

Happen to pass by and decided to turn around and stop in. Glad we did. I loved the atmosphere as soon as I walked in. It gives me Massachusetts and New Hampshire vibes! Nice and relaxing. I ordered the Salmon and crab topping, Asparagus and roasted potatoes. Glass of Pinot Grigio and a slice of Key Lime Pie. All were delicious! My friend ordered the Crab Mac and Cheese. It was delicious! Would order everything again!

I had been to this restaurant many times prior to 2016 when I moved away. Always have had a delicious meal with great friendly service. We’re visiting in the area so I brought my husband tonight as he loves oysters. Even though it was late and they had run out of many items on the menu we had deliciously prepared oysters, Moroccan spiced shrimp and beautifully seasoned branzino. Fortunately they still had key lime pie which had just the right tartness! Everything was very fresh which means they know how to manage their food supplies and nothing sits around. The restaurant itself has been remodeled beautifully and they are now able to serve wine and beer-another improvement since my last visit. Ocean House is a gem!

If you like to eat seafood and are in the area I recommend eating here. The food is very good and they clearly sell alot of fish. This helps improve freshness. I had the seafood soup and the cod special. The soup was light on salt and pepper. A healthy way to cook and eat. I had to add to satisfy my taste buds. The cod fish was fresh and a great meal. I finished with NY cheese cake. It was served with a blueberry sauce. It made for a nice way to satisfy a sweet tooth. The bench seat near the windows were a little uncomfortable. You might do better with the chairs vs the bench. They had a nice selection of white wines by the glass.

This place is a gem I JUST found...and they have bern here 18 years!! Food aaahmazing and staff is very nice! CLEAN like they just opened the place! Would come back

Edit - a year since our last visit and this place is charming as ever. Very accommodating and helpful staff, wonderful wine, high quality raw bar. What more can one want? This place was charming beyond measure. The space, which apparently used to be a diner, is extremely cozy without feeling claustrophobic. Service was excellent the night I went, although it did seem like they were overstaffed, so I'm not sure if that's the norm. I will be happily returning and will update this review. I had oysters, and my wife and I both had different fish mains. Everything was great, and the wine pairings recommended by our servers were on point every time. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Thought it was odd and bad service that upon arriving, the first customers of the evening, they tried to dear is at the worst table in the house.. At the end of the bar against a wall furthest from the windows and light. We requested a pretty corner table, that was bright and cheery with a view of the mountains from the wrap around windows offering us great light. Just showed a total lack of what a dining experience should be besides good food. I see this at many restaurants sadly. Staff aren't trained or even managers don't know? Bring the milk and sugar and utensils before you bring the hot coffee, bring utensils before you bring the meal, bring the dessert and the coffee at the same time or very close together. Simple things i knew as a kid waiting tables many years ago. Food was delicious tho.

Fantastic food. Fish, soft shell crab, and mussels were great. Reasonable prices for really good food. Small restaurant. Maybe 15 tables. Can call at 4:30 the day of to save a table
